Scientific disciplines such as life science, chemistry, physics and astrophysics are facing challenges of various natures. In life science, the revolution of experimental techniques has opened the door to very high-dimensional datasets, yet still relatively small in terms of individuals. In physics and astrophysics, increasingly large corpora are now available, so that detection of weak signals in these huge volumes of data has become a major issue. In all sciences, data of increasing complexity are observed and call for algorithms able to cope with this complexity. DATAIA Institute aims at developing a data science culture, by interfacing carefully data science experts and practitioners from these disciplines.
