DATAIA Institute's experts in Artificial Intelligence
In September 2017, the government tasked Cédric Villani, mathematician and deputy for the fifth district of Essonne, with a mission on artificial intelligence (AI). The objective assigned to the mission was to study the necessary actions to enable France and Europe to be at the forefront of the AI economy, describe the best international practices and applications of these technologies in order to transform and improve public policies, identify priority applications to deploy within the public sphere and open the field to a national reflection on the impacts of AI, considering its effects and the ethical issues it raises. To carry out this mission, Cédric Villani had the support of Marc Schoenauer, research director and AI expert at Inria. The DATAIA Convergence Institute is managed by the Inria Saclay - Île-de-France research center and mobilizes more than 130 researchers and teacher-researchers from 14 institutions to introduce some of their experts on the subject.
