Contemporary digital technologies change the way individuals and societies produce, disseminate, collect and encode data. Social networks have become key to influence, value creation, crowd innovation and collective intelligence. A new kind of communication and information exchange is thus appearing, with the emergence of new networks of humans and machines (IoT). We need to develop new tools and empirically grounded theories to make sense of the impact that these developments have on our work life, lifestyles, social identities and, more collectively, on our societies.
