MICS (CentraleSupélec) Laboratory | TOPOS seminar series O. Caramello
Topos for the working mathematician
This course, given by Olivia Caramello (Associate Prof. University of Insubria, Italy) will provide a conceptual introduction to topos theory aimed at illustrating the sense in which Grothendieck's topos can act as unifying spaces in mathematics. He will begin with a review of the necessary categorical preliminaries (for the benefit of those unfamiliar with the language of category theory) and then present the basics of sheaf theory on topological spaces and general topos. It will then introduce Grothendieck's notion of topos and the theory of classifier topos, concluding with an overview of the key principles of topos theory as "bridges" and its interdisciplinary applications.
