Within the scope of the collaborative project IFPEN-Inria "Machine Learning for Computational Fluid Dynamics" (ML4CFD), a PhD student and a post-doc were recruited in January 2021.
The PhD student Matthieu Nastorg will work on a thesis on "Machine learning to accelerate fluid dynamics calculations in the field of multiphase flows".
Tamon Nakano, PhD in fluid mechanics from ENSMA, and former post-doctoral student at CERFACS, will work on the theme of dynamic interface reconstruction with machine learning methods.

The ML4CFD project, winner of the call for research projects DATAIA 2020, is the result of a long collaboration between the Inria team TAU and IFPEN.
This research project aims to enhance the performance of computational fluid dynamics simulations using machine learning.
These approaches might allow a more adequate adaptation of the sizes of the spatio-temporal evolution steps by taking into account the estimation of future interactions.
