The social, ethical and political impacts of AI and digital technologies are at the heart of public debate; however, they are more often than not not not discussed by the experts involved. The result is a gap between public and private decision-makers' understanding of the socio-ethical challenges of digital technologies, and that of academic researchers and industry practitioners.

To remedy this situation, the Paris Conference on AI and Digital Ethics was created: an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral meeting platform welcoming academics from various disciplines and digital technology development players from industry, civil society and politics. Specialists from the humanities and social sciences are invited to combine their methods to examine the changes taking place in societies, and to steer the development of technologies towards the common good.
