The Chair of Excellence can provide the opportunity to engage in a variety of professional activities, such as:

collaborative research in an international environment;

writing joint scientific publications with Finnish colleagues;

teaching and seminars;supervising student research at master's or doctoral level;

developing international exchange collaborations between French and Finnish institutions.
The researcher and the Finnish host institution work together to define the Chair's activities.
The minimum duration of the visit is four months. The guest researcher coming to Finland will generally take part in research work, give lectures or, where appropriate, collaborate with Finnish companies.
The collaboration is expected to advance the field of ICT. Applicants should be leading researchers with a recognized record of scientific achievement, including a significant number of publications. The collaboration should also explore possibilities for longer-term cooperation between France and Finland.
The France-Nokia Chair of Excellence in Information and Communication Technologies is co-financed by the Nokia Foundation (€20,000) and the French researcher's institution (€20,000). The grant will cover the costs of the stay in Finland. A minimum period of 4 months is required, which can be divided into a maximum of two periods. The French researcher may stay for a longer period with the agreement of the home and host institutions. Mobility may take place in 2025 or 2026, depending on the researcher's availability.
Guest researchers do not need to speak Finnish or Swedish to live in Finland. English is widely spoken in academic circles and throughout the country.
