DATAIA, France's convergence institute for data science, artificial intelligence and society, and IVADO, Quebec's institute for data enhancement, recognize the close thematic ties between their activities, and the benefits of a strategic, long-term collaboration on responsible AI. They have therefore agreed to develop joint initiatives aimed at strengthening scientific and innovation synergies.

According to Nozha Boujemaa, Director of the DATAIA Institute, “this is a strategic and structuring alliance around responsible Artificial Intelligence between academic and industrial groups”.

The partnership agreement between the two parties aims to develop multi-year exchange programs between DATAIA and IVADO, including :

  • Mobilities of scientists of several weeks to several months between the two institutes;

  • Joint organization of thematic workshops based on shared scientific priorities;

  • Joint preparation of a special issue of a scientific journal on the links between data science, AI and society; and ultimately the creation of an international interdisciplinary journal with other partner institutes around the world;

  • Preparation of joint research programs, which could be the subject of synchronized calls for projects between the two institutes.

Witnessing this partnership, Quebec's Prime Minister, Philippe Couillard, underlines: “Data is the new gold of this century”. At the heart of the DATAIA Institute's work is the creation of partnerships that promote the exchange of data science skills to advance research in this field.
